A fan meet featuring social media influencer Aryan Kelvin turned chaotic in Dhanbad on Sunday after a large crowd gathered at Randhir Verma Stadium to catch a glimpse of the influencer.
Hundreds of young fans reportedly turned up for the event, with many hoping to meet Aryan or get a closer look at him. However, the situation became difficult to control soon after he entered the ground.
As Aryan moved onto the field, a section of the crowd began pushing towards the stage. The pressure from the gathering reportedly caused barricades made of iron and bamboo to collapse.
Bouncers deployed at the venue tried to prevent fans from moving forward. The situation soon escalated into pushing and shoving between the security personnel and some members of the crowd. The commotion created panic in parts of the stadium, with reports also emerging that stones were thrown at some point during the disturbance.
The incident also drew attention because the event was held during a period of official mourning in Jharkhand. The state had observed two days of mourning following the death of Higher Education Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu.
The Dhanbad district administration had reportedly warned the organisers against holding the event during the mourning period. However, the organisers were later allowed to proceed under certain conditions after assuring authorities that loud music and DJ performances would not be used.
The fan meet also attracted attention for the unusual ways in which some fans dressed up for the occasion. One attendee reportedly arrived wearing a red sari, while another appeared dressed as a groom. Several others were seen with bandages wrapped around their bodies as part of their chosen look.
A large number of young content creators and people interested in making reels also attended the gathering, adding to the crowd around the venue.
As the number of people increased, maintaining order reportedly became increasingly difficult. After the event ended, shoes and slippers could be seen scattered across several parts of the stadium, reflecting the extent of the rush during the gathering.
What was planned as an opportunity for Aryan Kelvin's followers to meet their favourite influencer ultimately became a talking point for a very different reason. The crowd management problems and the resulting chaos overshadowed much of the excitement surrounding the fan meet.
