ED Raids Seven Locations in Ranchi, Kolkata and Delhi in Case Linked to TMC MP

Enforcement Directorate teams carried out simultaneous searches at seven locations in Ranchi, Kolkata and Delhi on Monday as part of a money-laundering investigation reportedly linked to Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Mohammed Nadimul Haque.

In Ranchi, an ED team began its search at a premises in the Koker Industrial Area early in the morning. Officials reportedly examined documents, financial records and other material as part of the ongoing investigation.

The main focus of the case is understood to be in Kolkata, where several premises linked to the MP are located. The searches in the three cities are being conducted as part of the same investigation, with officials examining records that could shed light on the alleged financial transactions under scrutiny.

The case reportedly relates to the publication of certain content that had allegedly raised concerns over communal harmony. Investigators are also examining suspected financial transactions and alleged funding routed through certain business dealings.

The Ranchi premises is reportedly connected to Akhbare Mashriq Private Limited. The agency is examining aspects related to investments allegedly made in the company and certain content published by its Urdu daily.

The ED's investigation stems from an FIR registered at Bidhannagar police station. Based on the case, the agency registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) and subsequently began examining the financial aspects of the matter.

As the investigation progressed, the agency reportedly found indications that could point towards suspected money laundering. This led to the coordinated searches conducted on September 7 at seven locations across Ranchi, Kolkata and Delhi.

The searches are aimed at gathering documentary and digital evidence and tracing the flow of funds allegedly connected with the case. Investigators are also expected to examine financial records and communications that could help establish the relationships between the individuals and entities under scrutiny.

There has been no official statement so far detailing what the ED has recovered during Monday's searches. Further details are expected once the agency completes its examination of the premises and assesses the material seized, if any.

The searches do not by themselves establish criminal liability, and the allegations under investigation will have to be substantiated through evidence and the subsequent legal process.
