Hemant Soren hails teachers on Teachers’ Day, says AI can transform education

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday extended Teachers’ Day greetings to teachers, students and parents across the state, saying artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies could play an important role in transforming the education system.

In a message posted on his official X handle, Soren paid tribute to former President and eminent philosopher Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary, which is observed as Teachers’ Day in India.

The Chief Minister greeted teachers, students and parents on the occasion and extended his "Johar" to them.

Soren said efforts were being made to address gaps in Jharkhand's education system and bring about effective improvements. He stressed that teaching methods must also evolve in response to changing times and the growing role of technology.

He said AI and other emerging technologies could make education more accessible, effective and responsive to the needs of students. Their appropriate use could transform classroom learning and provide students with access to modern educational resources.

The Chief Minister, however, emphasised that technological advancement must go hand in hand with quality education. He said the government's focus was on developing an education system that enables the younger generation to become technologically capable while remaining connected to its values, culture and roots.

Soren also highlighted the contribution of teachers in shaping the future of students and society, reiterating the government's commitment to strengthening the state's education system.

Teachers’ Day is observed across India on September 5 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a philosopher, scholar and former President who made significant contributions to education and public life.
