Giddi-Bhurkunda Damodar Bridge to Remain Closed for Two Days from Saturday

Traffic movement on the Giddi-Bhurkunda Damodar Bridge, a key link between Ramgarh and Hazaribagh districts, will remain completely suspended for two days due to repair work, officials said.

The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic from 2 pm on Saturday until Sunday. Commuters using the route have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly.

Nasir Tauhid, SOC at the Argadda General Manager’s office, said the decision was taken after several large potholes developed on the bridge, making it difficult and unsafe for vehicles and pedestrians to cross.

According to officials, the condition of the bridge had been causing considerable inconvenience to commuters, with people having to negotiate the damaged stretches at considerable risk.

Repair work will begin at 2 pm on Saturday, with machinery including JCB equipment being deployed to fill the potholes. PCC work will also be carried out as part of the repair operation.

To ensure the work can be completed safely and without obstruction, all vehicular movement across the bridge will remain suspended from Saturday afternoon through Sunday.

Commuters travelling between Giddi and Bhurkunda, particularly those with time-sensitive journeys, are advised to make alternative travel arrangements during the closure period.
