Women in Raidih Raise Awareness About Growing Impact of Climate Change

Women in Raidih were sensitised on Friday about the growing impact of climate change and the need for community-level efforts to adapt to changing environmental conditions.

An awareness programme was organised by Child in Need Institute (CINI) at the community building in Raidih revenue village under Kudochetarpur panchayat. The session focused on the challenges arising from climate change, its impact on daily life and practical measures that can be adopted locally to reduce its effects.

Participants were informed that changing weather patterns, rising temperatures, irregular rainfall and other environmental changes are increasingly affecting health, nutrition, livelihoods and sanitation. Women and children, in particular, can face greater risks because of their dependence on natural resources and household responsibilities.

The programme emphasised that climate-related challenges cannot be addressed only through large-scale measures. Small changes at the household and community levels, combined with collective participation, can also help communities cope with changing conditions.

A snakes-and-ladders game was organised to make the awareness session more engaging. The game was used to explain the causes and consequences of climate change in a simple and interactive manner.

Women actively participated in the activity, sharing their experiences of changing weather conditions and discussing challenges faced in their communities. They also suggested locally feasible measures for reducing climate-related risks and adapting to environmental changes.

The organisers highlighted the importance of women's participation in climate action, noting that women can play a crucial role in improving household practices related to health, nutrition, sanitation, water management and environmental protection.

Khursheed Alam, Rakhi Kumari, Saroj Devi, Divya Oraon and Karishma Parveen were among those present, along with a large number of women from the area.
