Janmashtami Traffic Restrictions in Ranchi: These Roads Will See Diversions on Sept 4-5

Traffic movement across Ranchi is set to be affected on September 4 and 5 as the city gears up for Janmashtami celebrations. With tableaux, bhajan sandhya and a Dahi Handi competition scheduled at different locations, Ranchi Police have put in place special traffic and security arrangements to manage the expected crowds.

Commuters heading towards the city centre have been advised to plan their journeys carefully, as several major roads will face restrictions and diversions during the celebrations.

The traffic arrangements were reviewed during a meeting chaired by Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan. Senior police officials, including the City SP, Rural SP, Traffic SP, DSPs and police station in-charges, attended the meeting and discussed security, crowd management and traffic regulation.

Police personnel will be deployed at sensitive and crowded locations, while Tiger Mobile teams will increase patrolling in narrow lanes and congested areas where PCR vehicles may have difficulty reaching. Police will also monitor suspicious activities, gatherings of anti-social elements, theft and illegal drug-related activities.

Traffic curbs on key routes

Traffic movement is expected to be regulated around Firayalal Chowk, Plaza Chowk, Sarjana Chowk, Mission Chowk, Jail Chowk, Ratan PP, Kali Mandir Chowk and Ul House.

Movement will also be affected on the following routes:

• Firayalal Chowk to Sujata Chowk
• Plaza Chowk to Firayalal Chowk
• Jail Chowk to Firayalal Chowk
• Mission Chowk to Sarjana Chowk
• Ratan PP to Firayalal Chowk

During the celebrations, traffic coming from Karbala Chowk towards Kali Mandir and Ul House may also be stopped or diverted depending on the crowd situation.

Heavy vehicles barred from city

Heavy goods vehicles will not be allowed to enter Ranchi city between 6 am and midnight on September 4 and 5. Such vehicles will be diverted through the Ring Road. The regular no-entry restrictions will also remain applicable.

Police may introduce additional temporary diversions if the crowd increases at any location.

Avoid unnecessary car travel in crowded areas

Police have appealed to residents to avoid taking four-wheelers into crowded festival areas unless necessary. Commuters travelling through the affected stretches should leave early, keep alternative routes in mind and expect delays, particularly during the main celebration hours.

Night security has also been strengthened, with Tiger Mobile personnel instructed to remain particularly alert. Suspicious persons or activities will be checked immediately and information will be passed to the concerned police station whenever required.

With thousands of devotees expected to participate in the Janmashtami celebrations, the police are focusing on maintaining a balance between public safety, crowd management and uninterrupted traffic movement across Ranchi.
