Janmashtami Celebrated with Devotion and Cultural Fervour at Sarala Birla Public School

Sarala Birla Public School in Ranchi celebrated Janmashtami with devotion and enthusiasm, bringing together music, dance, storytelling and colourful tableaux to showcase the life, personality and teachings of Lord Krishna.

The celebrations began with a special prayer assembly featuring a mangalacharan and devotional prayers. Students then delivered speeches and narrated stories highlighting the significance of Janmashtami, along with important episodes from Krishna's life and his enduring messages.

The school campus took on a distinctly festive and devotional atmosphere when students dressed as Radha and Krishna and presented a graceful dance performance based on the theme "Main Bhi Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya Ki Radha". The performance, accompanied by devotional music, was one of the highlights of the programme.

Krishna-themed tableau adds to celebrations

A beautifully decorated Krishna-themed tableau added to the visual appeal of the celebration. It recreated the charming setting of Gokul and depicted several episodes from the childhood of Lord Krishna.

Another major attraction was an energetic dance performance based on the traditional Matki Phod celebration. The lively presentation filled the campus with excitement and reflected the festive spirit traditionally associated with Janmashtami.

Lessons from Krishna's life highlighted

The celebration was not limited to cultural performances. Through the various presentations, students were also introduced to values associated with Krishna's life and teachings, including truth, courage, compassion, duty, wisdom and devotion.

School Principal Manisha Sharma said Janmashtami should be viewed not merely as a celebration of Krishna's divine persona but also as an opportunity to understand his broader philosophy of life.

She encouraged students to incorporate values such as truth, courage, compassion and selfless action into their everyday lives. She also urged them to face challenges with confidence, perform their responsibilities with sincerity and strive to remain committed to the path of truth and righteousness.

The celebrations concluded in an atmosphere of joy and devotion. Through the combination of cultural performances and messages drawn from Krishna's life, the programme gave students an opportunity to connect with India's cultural traditions while reflecting on values that remain relevant in everyday life.
