Twelve units of blood were collected during a Blood Donation on Wheels camp organised at Deoghar College on Friday. The camp was conducted by the college's National Service Scheme (NSS) unit in association with the Deoghar branch of the Indian Red Cross Society.

Students, teachers and non-teaching staff participated enthusiastically in the initiative, highlighting the role educational institutions can play in supporting local healthcare needs and maintaining adequate blood supplies.

The camp was inaugurated by College Principal Akhilesh Kumar in the presence of Red Cross Vice-Chairman Piyush Jaiswal, Sanjay Mishra, Sureshanand Jha, Vijay Pratap Sanatan, Jyoti Kumari, Mamta Kiran, NSS Programme Officer Ishpriya Kindo, NCC Officer Major Rajesh Kumar Singh, Kashi Nath Jha, Mayankesh Ranjan and Dipendra Jajwade.

Those who voluntarily donated blood included Aryan Raj, Shoaib Akhtar, Arun Bera, Rajdeep Rajnish Singh, Sikandar Kumar Das, Anam Kumar, Gungun Priya, Uttam Kumar Manjhi, Vishal Kumar, Raj Kumar Yadav, Sikandar Kumar Marik and Ashish Kumar Thakur.

Principal Akhilesh Kumar said the initiative reflects the college's commitment to community service and encourages young people to contribute to society in meaningful ways.

Piyush Jaiswal said the Blood Donation on Wheels campaign is aimed at bringing blood donation facilities closer to educational institutions and the wider public, making it easier for willing donors to participate.

The camp was conducted under the leadership of coordinator Sanjay Mishra. All voluntary donors were presented with certificates of appreciation and mementos in recognition of their contribution.

Red Cross member Ajay Narayan Mishra, office assistant Jitendra Kumar Dev, teachers, non-teaching employees and students were also present during the programme.

The successful collection of 12 units through the campus drive underlines how regular blood donation initiatives at colleges can help strengthen emergency blood availability while also encouraging a culture of voluntary community service among young people.
