Customers with pending bank-related work may need to act quickly, as bank branches across the country are set to remain affected for three consecutive days starting September 11.
Bank employees and officers are scheduled to go on strike on September 11 following a call by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). The strike is being held over long-pending demands and issues related to the implementation of earlier agreements.
The disruption will be followed by the regular weekend holidays on September 12 and 13, which fall on Saturday and Sunday. As a result, customers are likely to face limited or no normal branch services for three successive days.
Services such as cash withdrawals and deposits at branches, cheque-related work, account-related requests and other counter services could be affected during the strike. Customers who need to visit a branch for any urgent work would therefore be better off completing it on September 10.
Digital banking services such as internet banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATMs may continue to remain available, although the availability of individual services can vary depending on the bank and the nature of the transaction.
With branches reopening after the three-day disruption, customers should also expect potentially heavier footfall and longer waiting times on the next working day.
Those with urgent banking requirements, including cash needs, cheque deposits or branch-based documentation, should therefore plan ahead rather than wait until the last moment.
