9 Jharkhand Police Personnel to Receive President’s Medals for Distinguished and Meritorious Service

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has announced medals for nine police officers and personnel from Jharkhand on the occasion of Independence Day 2026, recognising their distinguished and meritorious service.

The honours include one President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and eight Police Medals for Meritorious Service. The awards recognise the contribution of Jharkhand Police personnel in taking effective action against extremist organisations, organised criminal gangs and other forms of crime across the state.

President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service

Shailendra Kumar Sinha, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Bokaro Range, has been selected for the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

Police Medal for Meritorious Service

Eight Jharkhand Police personnel have been selected for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service:

1. Assistant Sub-Inspector Pankaj Kumar Rai
2. Havildar-560 Purn Bahadur Singh
3. Havildar-125 Jitendra Kumar Singh
4. Havildar-12 Yogendra Kumar Das
5. Havildar-31 Nand Kishore Mahto
6. Driver Havildar-178 Aurangzeb Khan
7. Driver Havildar-174 Sanjay Kumar Singh
8. Woman Constable-419 Anita Tirkey

The recognition comes in appreciation of the sustained efforts of Jharkhand Police personnel in maintaining law and order and tackling extremist activities, organised crime and other criminal challenges in the state.

The Independence Day honours are being seen as recognition of the dedication and professional service of the awardees, whose work has contributed to strengthening security and policing in Jharkhand.
