Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday paid rich tributes to the legendary heroes of the Hul Rebellion, Sidho and Kanhu, on the occasion of Hul Diwas, recalling their unmatched courage in leading the fight against oppression.
Accompanied by MLA Kalpana Soren, the Chief Minister visited Sidho-Kanhu Park in Ranchi, where he offered floral tributes at the statue of the iconic tribal freedom fighters.
Speaking at the event, Hemant Soren described Hul Diwas as a landmark day in India's history, marking the beginning of a powerful resistance against exploitation and injustice.
He said that at a time when people had no escape from oppression, brave members of the tribal community chose to fight back. Without worrying about the consequences, the immortal revolutionaries Sidho, Kanhu, Chand, Bhairav, and the fearless sisters Phulo and Jhano raised the banner of revolt against the exploitation of the people.

The Chief Minister said their struggle continues to inspire society even today, as every movement for justice and equality begins with resistance against the exploitation of the weak and the marginalised.
He said the people of Jharkhand are proud of these legendary heroes, whose sacrifices have earned the state the identity of being the "Land of Heroes." Their courage and ideals, he added, will continue to guide future generations.
Hemant Soren noted that Jharkhand commemorates several occasions to remember its great leaders and renew its commitment to their values and principles.
Emphasising the enduring spirit of revolution, he said the flame of resistance can never be extinguished. "The spark of revolution never dies," he remarked, adding that eternal flames burning at national memorials such as Raj Ghat and India Gate symbolise the nation's everlasting respect for those who laid down their lives for the country.
The Chief Minister said the glorious legacy of Jharkhand's brave sons and daughters will forever remain inscribed in the golden pages of history.
