Deoghar. Deputy Mayor urges civic body to install temporary sheds and drinking water facilities amid severe heat wave
Amid the rising heat wave and scorching temperatures in Deoghar and Jasidih, Deputy Mayor Tip Chatterjee has written to the Municipal Commissioner of Deoghar Municipal Corporation, demanding immediate relief measures for residents, commuters and pilgrims. The letter calls for the installation of temporary shaded sheds and proper drinking water arrangements at major intersections across the city.In the letter, the Deputy Mayor expressed concern over the extreme summer conditions affecting daily life in the region. She stated that continuous rise in temperature and intense sunlight have made commuting difficult, especially for two-wheeler riders, pedestrians and people visiting markets and public places. The severe heat has also increased health risks for citizens.
She pointed out that Deoghar is a world-famous religious destination where devotees from across the country and abroad arrive throughout the year to offer prayers at Baba Baidyanath Dham. At the same time, Jasidih Railway Station remains crowded round the clock as it serves as the main gateway for visitors entering the city. During traffic jams and long halts at busy intersections, people are forced to stand under direct sunlight, making the situation extremely uncomfortable. The letter urged the municipal administration to immediately install temporary shaded sheds at busy intersections such as Tower Chowk, VIP Chowk, Bajla Chowk and other key points along the Deoghar-Jasidih route, ensuring that traffic movement remains unaffected. It also demanded proper drinking water facilities through temporary water kiosks or water tankers near major markets and public intersections for the convenience of commuters, residents and pilgrims. The Deputy Mayor appealed to the civic administration to take swift and positive action so that people can get relief from the ongoing heat wave and extreme summer conditions.
