Jamshedpur: Commuters in Jamshedpur were greeted with another financial jolt on Monday as petrol and diesel prices witnessed a sharp increase, adding to the burden on daily consumers and transport operators. According to the revised fuel rates effective May 25, the price of Motor Spirit (Petrol) has risen from Rs 102.61 per litre on May 24 to Rs 105.27 per litre, marking an increase of Rs 2.66 per litre.
Similarly, High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has gone up from Rs 97.61 per litre to Rs 100.44 per litre, reflecting a hike of Rs 2.83 per litre. Premium fuel Speed Petrol has also become more expensive, climbing from Rs 111.54 per litre to Rs 114.21 per litre, an increase of Rs 2.67 per litre.
The sudden revision in fuel prices is expected to have a direct impact on commuters, commercial transport services, and businesses reliant on transportation, with concerns that the hike could trigger an increase in the prices of essential goods and services. Residents and vehicle owners across Jamshedpur have expressed concern over the continued rise in fuel costs, as it puts additional pressure on household budgets amid broader inflationary challenges.
