
Deoghar: On the occasion of the 35th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the Deoghar District Congress Committee organized a tribute and peace meeting at the District Congress Office. The programme was held under the chairmanship of District President Rajendra Das. Congress workers paid floral tributes to the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi and observed a two-minute silence in his memory.During the meeting, speakers highlighted Rajiv Gandhi’s vision for a modern India, which laid a strong foundation for the country’s development. His contributions were noted in areas such as the expansion of information technology, the telecommunications revolution, strengthening the Panchayati Raj system, and empowering youth participation in nation-building. His leadership was credited with taking India towards the 21st century.
District President Rajendra Das said that in the present time, democratic institutions are facing increasing pressure. He also raised concerns over inflation, unemployment, and issues related to social harmony, stating that the government has not been able to deliver satisfactory results on these fronts. He added that Rajiv Gandhi’s ideas, vision, and democratic values have become even more relevant today.Congress leaders and workers present at the programme resolved to continue working for the protection of democracy, the Constitution, and social unity while following the ideals of Rajiv Gandhi.After the tribute programme, Congress workers, under the leadership of the District President, distributed fruits and drinking water among patients and needy individuals at Sadar Hospital, Deoghar, as part of a service initiative.
