Police recover country-made pistol in special anti-crime operation in Deoghar

Deoghar: In a major breakthrough under the special anti-crime operation launched by SP Praveen Pushkar, the town police arrested a youth carrying an illegal firearm near a school. Based on his confession, two alleged arms suppliers were also apprehended and sent to judicial custody.
According to police officials, the incident took place near a school at Tower Chowk under the Town Police Station limits. During routine patrolling and search operations, the police noticed a suspicious youth attempting to hide on seeing the police team. Sensing foul play, the officers chased and detained him.
During a formal search, the police recovered an illegal country-made pistol from the backpack he was carrying. The arrested accused was identified as Shahil Srivastava, 22, son of Manoj Kumar, a resident near the water tank area in Deoghar town.
During interrogation, Shahil disclosed the names of two persons who had allegedly supplied him with the weapon. Acting swiftly on the information, the police arrested Vijay Chauhan alias Vijay Gupta, 24, and Gaurav Kumar Jha alias Monty, 23.
Vijay Chauhan alias Vijay Gupta, son of Shekhar Prasad Sah alias Shekhar Chauhan, is a resident near Sunrise School in Hathi Pahad under Kunda police station area. Gaurav Kumar Jha alias Monty, son of Niranjan Jha, lives near Karnkol More under Kunda police station limits.
Police seized one country-made pistol and one mobile phone from Shahil’s possession. All three accused were later produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
The operation was led by Town Police Station In-charge Rajiv Kumar, along with officers Mukesh Kumar Tiwari, Sumant Prasad, Mukesh Kumar, Shankar Rajak and armed police personnel.
