Deoghar: A press briefing was held on Thursday at the Information Building auditorium under the chairmanship of DC Shashi Prakash Singh to ensure the successful implementation of the first phase of Census 2027. During the briefing, the DC informed that this time the census process will be completely digital and paperless. With the use of modern technology, the census exercise has been made more transparent and convenient.
He stated that the first phase, which includes house listing and housing census, will be conducted from May 16 to June 14, 2026, while the second phase, population enumeration, will be carried out from February 9 to February 28, 2027.
The DC said that during the first phase, information on 33 points will be collected, including the condition of houses, availability of basic amenities such as drinking water, electricity, toilets, and property-related details. He clarified that no caste-related data or personal documents will be demanded during the census, as the exercise is meant purely for statistical purposes.
Appealing to the citizens, he said that the census forms the basis for national development planning, and therefore everyone should cooperate by providing correct and accurate information. He also urged the public to make maximum use of the self-enumeration portal.
The DC informed that for the census work in the district, 11 additional charge officers, 3,577 HLB personnel, 2,312 enumerators, and 383 supervisors have been deployed. He added that all preparations for the census process in the district have already been completed.
Self-Enumeration Facility Available from May 1 to May 15
To make the process easier for citizens, a self-enumeration facility has been arranged from May 1 to May 15, 2026. During this period, residents can log in to the official census portal using their mobile number and fill in their family details themselves. This will save them from waiting for enumerators and allow them to submit accurate information at their convenience.
After the self-enumeration process is completed, each household will receive a special SE ID, which will be sent to the registered mobile number through SMS. From May 16 onward, enumerators equipped with a mobile app will visit households for verification. Families that have already completed self-enumeration will only need to share their SE ID, based on which the data will be verified.
During the briefing, the government-appointed nodal officer Chaurasia and the Municipal Commissioner also shared detailed information regarding the census process.
Among those present on the occasion were Municipal Commissioner Rohit Sinha, Additional Collector Hira Kumar, Sub-Divisional Officer Ravi Kumar, District Transport Officer, District Planning Officer, District Panchayati Raj Officer, District Statistical Officer, District Informatics Officer, Assistant Public Relations Officer Rohit Kumar Vidyarthi, along with officials from various departments.
