
Ranchi: The fifth executive committee meeting of the current session of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) was held under the chairmanship of President Aditya Malhotra, with representatives and members from the chambers of commerce of Jamtada, Giridih, Khunti, Gumla, Ramgarh, and Daltonganj districts in attendance.
During the meeting, traders praised Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s forward-looking approach for enabling Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce to be represented for the first time on the global platform of the World Economic Forum in Davos. Members said including the Chamber in high-level government delegations sends a clear message to national and international entrepreneurs that Jharkhand is fully prepared for investment. Malhotra assured that the Chamber will continue to actively support industrial growth and employment generation in the state.
The meeting also welcomed Modern Power and Natural Resources Pvt. Ltd. and Orient Craft Fashion Industries as patron members of the Jharkhand Chamber. Traders appreciated the Jharkhand High Court’s decision to prohibit the use of Pandra Terminal Market Yard for vote counting and requested the Chamber engage with district administration to prevent its use in upcoming municipal elections. Secretary Rohit Agrawal praised efforts by former president Deepak Kumar Maru and former secretary Kunal Ajmani in filing petitions to resolve longstanding issues.
Positive outcomes from district-level police-business coordination committee meetings were discussed, and the Chamber secretary promised to meet the DGP to reconvene meetings of all district SPs and district chambers. To accelerate Chamber activities, vice-presidents Ram Bangad and Praveen Lohia were appointed to jointly chair two new subcommittees, while Vinay Chapadia was added as an additional chairman of the Banking Subcommittee. Members emphasized that future subcommittee meetings will focus on resolving business challenges.
Discussion also covered Jharkhand and Union budgets. Malhotra highlighted that the Chamber provided key suggestions during the state pre-budget meeting and raised issues such as establishing a Mahua Board at a recent NITI Aayog meeting. He stressed Jharkhand’s significant role in forest and environmental protection and advocated for special central funds to compensate for resource restrictions.
Regional vice-presidents Amarjit Singh Saluja, Ramesh Kumar, and Sanjay Agrawal raised concerns over inadequate railway connectivity in Giridih, Gumla, Lohardaga, Pakur, and Sahibganj. Udayshankar Dubey suggested setting up additional industrial zones in Palamu district. Malhotra assured that the Chamber will meet the Railway Minister soon to push for improved connectivity.
