Two Siblings Abducted from Ranchi Rescued Safely After 12 Days, Two Arrested

Ranchi — Jharkhand Police on Wednesday successfully rescued two young siblings who were abducted from Ranchi nearly two weeks ago. The children, four-year-old Ansh and five-year-old Anshika, were found unharmed, while two individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.

The siblings were traced to the Chitarpur area of Ramgarh district following an extensive search operation. Their disappearance on January 2 had sparked widespread outrage, protests, and demonstrations across Ranchi.

Police said the children had stepped out from their home in the Dhurwa area to buy groceries but failed to return. A missing complaint was lodged the following day, prompting the formation of a 40-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by SSP Rakesh Ranjan.

The SIT analysed over 5,000 mobile numbers, reviewed footage from nearly 2,000 CCTV cameras, and launched a large-scale poster campaign. A reward of Rs 4 lakh was also announced for information leading to their recovery.

Investigators eventually received key leads pointing to Chitarpur, where the children were rescued. Preliminary findings suggest the involvement of a nomadic Gulgulia gang. Both children are reported to be in good health, and further investigation is underway to identify other suspects and determine the motive behind the abduction.
