Ranchi: A complaint has been registered at the Doranda police station against former Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta. The complainant, advocate Rajiv Kumar, has alleged that Gupta misused his official position to aid organised crime and amass large sums of money through illegal activities. The complaint claims that the former police chief maintained ties with known criminals, leading to what is described as a serious breach of public trust.
According to the complaint, Gupta allegedly collaborated with Sujit Sinha and others to form a group named the Koylanchal Shanti Samiti, which the complainant describes as a criminal network involved in widespread extortion in coal trade, transport, contracting and various business sectors. These activities are said to have occurred when Gupta was serving as the head of the state police.
The document also references earlier remarks made by Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, who had alleged that the group received weapons from Pakistan and suggested that an encounter involving jailed accused Aman Sahu was staged. Advocate Kumar has stated that these claims raise concerns extending beyond state boundaries.
Further allegations include the misuse of authority during Gupta’s tenure in senior roles in the ACB and CID. The complaint alleges that officers close to him filed cases against rivals and used inquiries to pressure officials and contractors. Several individuals have been named as associates in these actions.
The complainant has urged a comprehensive investigation and requested registration of an FIR after examination of the charges, calling the matter crucial for the state’s security and integrity.
