Brown Sugar Worth ?40 Lakh Seized, Three Arrested in Seraikela-Kharsawan

Seraikela – In one of the biggest anti-drug operations in Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharsawan district, police seized 207.91 grams of brown sugar worth ?40 lakh and arrested three persons from Adityapur on Monday.

The accused were identified as Shahbaz Khan (19) of Adityapur, Mohammad Samour alias Mohammad Aayan (19) of Chhattisgarh, and Rafiqul Islam (50) of Murshidabad, West Bengal.

According to SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat, the raid was carried out based on a specific tip-off by a team led by SDPO Sameer Kumar Sawaiya. He said the operation marks the largest drug seizure in the district so far.

Lunayat added that the campaign against drug smuggling will be intensified and strict action will follow against all involved.

In a separate case a day earlier, two peddlers — Baban Khan alias Sheikh Baban and Pawan Sahu — were arrested in Jamshedpur’s Mango area with 140 packets (18 grams) of brown sugar. Both have several previous cases under the NDPS Act.

Police said the arrests signal an ongoing offensive against narcotics networks in the Adityapur-Jamshedpur industrial corridor.
