Hazaribagh — Residents and traders in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh have welcomed the Central Government’s rollout of GST 2.0, calling it a historic step that will ease the burden of inflation.
The revised tax structure, with slabs of 5%, 18% and 40%, is set to make a wide range of goods — from groceries, soaps, and medicines to two-wheelers and small cars — more affordable. The move comes ahead of the festive season, raising hopes of higher consumer spending and renewed market momentum.
Local business leaders and citizens expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the reform will benefit the middle class, small traders, and common households. “With reduced prices, people will start spending again, which will strengthen the economy from the grassroots,” said Rakesh Thakur, Secretary of the Hazaribagh Chamber of Commerce.
Others echoed that GST 2.0 would revive retail demand, boost purchasing power, and provide relief to both consumers and business owners. The changes take effect from September 22.
