Jharkhand Assembly Backs Bharat Ratna for Dishom Guru

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Assembly, during the concluding day of its monsoon session, unanimously passed a resolution proposing that Dishom Guru be conferred with the Bharat Ratna. The motion was put forward by Minister Deepak Barua.

Opposition leader Babulal Marandi noted that leaders such as Vinod Bihari Mahato and Jaipal Singh Munda had equally significant roles in the movement for a separate Jharkhand state.

He urged that their names too should be included in the Assembly’s recommendation to the Central Government for the Bharat Ratna.
