Ranchi: Jharkhand’s Leader of Opposition and BJP state president, Babulal Marandi, on Monday accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren and a group of “corrupt and favoured officials” of conspiring to falsely implicate him in criminal cases.
Speaking to the media in Giridih, Marandi claimed he had received credible information about efforts being made to intimidate him because of his continued activism on issues of public interest and corruption.
“I have consistently spoken out against the liquor scam, mining mafia, irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC examinations, and corruption in rural development schemes. My efforts to expose these scams have made me the target of personal vendettas,” he alleged.
Marandi also asserted that this was not the first time such attempts had been made to silence him.
“In the past, there was even a plan to attack me with the help of militants in the Shikaripara area of Dumka. After receiving intelligence inputs, the Central government assigned CRPF personnel for my protection,” he said.
Issuing a direct warning to the Chief Minister, Marandi stated, “Once again, there is a conspiracy to silence me with threats, false accusations, and character assassination. But I will not be intimidated.”
Posting on social media, the senior BJP leader said, “Hemant ji and your officials — if you believe you can shut me up with threats and fake cases, then you clearly don’t know me. I may not speak much, but I’ve never backed down in the face of fear.”
He concluded his message with a deeply personal note: “Even when I lost my young son in a militant attack, I didn’t back away. Your cheap tricks and smear campaigns cannot stop me from standing up for the people of Jharkhand.”
