Police, CRPF recover rifles, SLRs, explosives from Naxal bunker in Giridih

Giridih: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing anti-Naxal operations, Giridih Police and CRPF have recovered a large cache of arms and explosives from a Naxal hideout in the Parasnath foothills. The operation was carried out following a tip-off received through confidential sources. Acting on the information, a joint search team of CRPF and district police launched a sustained search in the Jokhanala area under Khukhra police station limits, a region long affected by Naxal activity.

During the operation, the team discovered a hidden bunker used by Naxals to stockpile weapons and explosives. From the site, security forces seized 14 firearms, including .303 rifles, self-loading rifles (SLRs), and gunpowder-based explosive materials. Officials suspect that several of the recovered weapons may have been looted from police forces in earlier Naxal encounters.

Giridih Superintendent of Police Dr. Vimal Kumar confirmed the development and said the entire operation was based on specific intelligence. He stated that a special team was formed by the district police and CRPF to conduct a thorough search in the area. The successful recovery of such a significant quantity of arms is being seen as a major blow to Naxal infrastructure in the region.

The joint forces are continuing their combing operations in the dense forest areas near the Parasnath hill range to locate additional hideouts and ensure the area is secured. The seized arms and explosives have been sent for forensic and technical examination, while security has been intensified to prevent any retaliatory actions by the ultras.

This operation marks one of the most successful recent offensives by security forces in Jharkhand’s Naxal-affected belt, underscoring the importance of coordinated intelligence and swift action.
