High Court can give its verdict while Hemant's petition is pending - Supreme Court

Ranchi: The petition of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, accused of money laundering through land scam, was heard in the Supreme Court on April 29. During the hearing, the top court issued a notice to the ED and fixed the next Monday (May 6) for the next hearing of the case. This case was listed in the court of Supreme Court judges Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta. The order after the hearing of this case has been uploaded on the website of the Supreme Court.

According to which, the Supreme Court has said that while the case is pending in the apex court, the High Court can give its decision, which has been reserved after the hearing on February 28. That means the Supreme Court has not put any restriction on the Jharkhand High Court giving its verdict. During the hearing, the country's senior advocate Kapil Sibal and advocate Pragya Singh Baghel argued on behalf of Hemant Soren.

Actually, Hemant Soren has filed a criminal SLP (Special Leave Petition) in the apex court through his advocate. Whose case number is 5796/2024. In his petition, he has appealed to the court that while hearing the petition filed on his behalf, the Jharkhand High Court had reserved its decision on February 28.

Even after almost two months have passed since reserving the decision, the High Court has not yet given its decision. After resigning, Hemant Soren was arrested on the night of 31 January in a money laundering case. Officers Ali, Antu Tirkey, Priyaranjan Sahay, Vipin Singh and Irshad have also been arrested in the same case.
