Latehar police clamp down on drug dealers, Drugs worth Rs 44 lakh recovered, two smugglers arrested

Latehar : Latehar Police is continuously tightening its grip on drug dealers. Once again Latehar police has seized drugs worth Rs 44 lakh 22 thousand from Balumath police station area. Two smugglers have been arrested in this case.

In which Indradev Ganjhu, father Ladu Ganjhu and Jyotish Ganjhu (both Semersot, Chowkidar Tola, Balumath) are included. 46 kg 500 grams of Doda has been recovered from the house of both the arrested smugglers. Whose market value is 6 lakh 97 thousand. 32 kg ganja and 4 kg 200 grams opium have been recovered. Whose market value is Rs 16 lakh 25 thousand and Rs 21 lakh respectively.

Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan gave this information in a press conference on Sunday. He said that on Saturday, secret information was received that illegal drugs like opium, doda, ganja are being stored in Semarsot village of Balumath police station area and it is to be bought and sold. After this, a raid team was formed under the leadership of Balumath sub-divisional police officer Ashutosh Satyam.

The raiding team raided the house of Indrajit Ganjhu and Jyotish Ganjhu. In which a huge quantity of drugs have been recovered. He said that the recovered drugs were to be sold in the UP market of UP. Even before this the police have taken major action.

He further said that opium is cultivated in large quantities around Amanat river of Chatra and Latehar border. From time to time the police have been working to destroy opium cultivation. Still people are cultivating it. On which continuous action is being taken.

Within nine days of the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct in the country, Latehar Police has taken major action against drugs. Police have seized drugs worth about Rs 3 crore 60 lakh 37 thousand 750. 120 kg opium, 42.405 kg ganja and 16 quintals 90 kg 500 grams of doda have been recovered in the district.

Apart from this, police have recovered four country made pistols and 11 live cartridges. On Saturday, Rs 2 lakh 99 thousand 500 cash was seized from a car near Chekneka of Manika police station area. The seized money has been handed over to the Income Tax Department for investigation.
