Ramgarh: A total of 76 applications were received and 30 Unique Disability ID (UDID) cards issued on the second day of a district-wide assessment drive aimed at providing free assistive devices to persons with disabilities and senior citizens in Ramgarh.
The camp was organised in Mandu block as part of an initiative launched by the Ramgarh district administration in accordance with directions from the Jharkhand government.
The assessment drive is being conducted by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), with support from Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL). Eligible beneficiaries are being identified under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana and the Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) Scheme.
During the camp, officials verified the documents submitted by applicants and assessed their individual requirements to determine the assistive devices needed. The issuance of UDID cards is also expected to make it easier for persons with disabilities to access various government schemes and benefits.
Under the two schemes, eligible senior citizens and persons with disabilities will receive assistive devices free of cost, in accordance with prescribed eligibility criteria, to help them carry out everyday activities more independently and comfortably.
The district administration has urged all eligible persons with disabilities and senior citizens to attend the assessment camps at their respective block offices according to the announced schedule, carrying the necessary documents to avail themselves of the benefits.
It has also appealed to local residents and public representatives to spread awareness about the camps and inform needy individuals in their communities, ensuring that no eligible beneficiary misses out on government assistance due to a lack of information.
