Sarala Birla Public School Wins Overall Championship at 9th B. K. Birla Taekwondo Championship

Ranchi: Sarala Birla Public School (SBPS), Ranchi, emerged as the Overall Champion at the 9th B. K. Birla Ranchi District Inter-School Taekwondo Championship 2026–27, showcasing an impressive performance across various categories. The two-day championship, held at the school premises, concluded successfully with the participation of over 400 young athletes from more than 30 schools across Ranchi.

Organised by the Ranchi District Taekwondo Association, the competition featured boys and girls competing in the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories. The final day witnessed several exciting bouts, with participants displaying remarkable skills, discipline, determination and sportsmanship.

A total of 480 medals and trophies were awarded to outstanding performers across different categories in recognition of their achievements.

In the Under-14 category, Ideal International School, Ranchi, secured the first position, while Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Angara, finished second. In the Under-17 category, Sarala Birla Public School, Ranchi, claimed the top position, followed by Kairali School, Ranchi. Meanwhile, Sharda Global School, Ranchi, secured first place in the Under-19 category, with PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, CRPF, Ranchi, finishing second.

Based on the overall medal tally and performance, Sarala Birla Public School was declared the Overall Champion. Acharyakulam, Ranchi, secured the First Runner-up position, while Sharda Global School, Ranchi, was adjudged the Second Runner-up.

Congratulating the winners, the school's Principal, Ms. Manisha Sharma, appreciated the dedication, hard work and perseverance of all participants. She highlighted that competitive sports play a vital role in the holistic development of students by promoting physical fitness, self-confidence, mutual respect and resilience.

She further emphasised the school's commitment to providing students with opportunities to develop their personalities, embrace challenges and learn valuable life skills through sporting activities.

The championship concluded with a grand award ceremony, celebrating the achievements and efforts of the young athletes. The event not only provided a platform for budding taekwondo players to showcase their talent but also strengthened camaraderie, cooperation and sportsmanship among participating schools.
