Ranchi: Commissioner of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) IAS Rajeshwari B planted 'Shisham' and 'Peepal' tree which gives 22 hours of oxygen in a day at Jharkhand State Rural Development Institute (SERD) on the occasion of World Environment Day celebrations in Ranchi on Monday.
Commissioner MGNREGA Rajeshwari B said that "Environment is related to our daily life."
She added that "Environment gives us lots of things and its Conservation is necessary, for that purpose awareness among people is the most important thing."
She appealed to the people of the state that either the birthday of a child or wedding reception is there or any micro occasion people should plant trees.
She also said that people should adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle.
We should encourage a healthy climate in our surroundings, she added.
On this occasion Joint Secretary of Rural Development Department Arun Kumar Singh, Assistant Secretary Rajeev Ranjan and others were present.
