Garhwa Case: Outrage among doctors across the state, warn of strike on Wednesday

Ranchi: There is anger in JHASA due to the attack on the doctors of the state. An emergency meeting of the Indian Medical Association, JHASA and government doctors was held at the IMA Bhavan regarding the recent incident where the anger of the doctors erupted. After Jamtara, Hazaribagh, Garhwa, D. Ajay Chowdhary of Petarwar was attacked and even beaten up.

On the other hand, Deputy Superintendent of Garhwa Sadar Hospital Dr Awadhesh Singh and DPM Praveen Kumar Singh were beaten by Zilla Parishad President Kanchan Kumar Sahu, Tanveer Alam, Nitish Singh and the workers called by them. In such a situation, it was decided during the meeting that the doctors of all the medical colleges and government hospitals of the state would stop the medical services on Wednesday.

Secretary of the Indian Medical Association, Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh said that right from senior officials like civil surgeons to doctors working in district and small hospitals are also being attacked. An unsafe environment has been created for doctors. In Garhwa, a senior official like a civil surgeon is locked up and beaten up. Indecent behavior is done, and even the CCTV footage of the incident is deleted but cognizance is not taken by the government but now the limit has been crossed.

Dr Pradeep said that doctors across the state will be on strike on Wednesday. On the other hand, JHASA President Dr PP Shah said that indecent language is being used continuously towards doctors. Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari talks about dragging the civil surgeon. In such a situation, our mobilization is necessary.

In the strike to be held on Wednesday, an appeal has been made to paramedical workers, nurses, doctors of medicine shops and medical colleges across the state to support the strike. On the other hand, Jhasa’s State Secretary Dr Mrityunjay Singh said that the people involved in the Garhwa incident should be arrested. Because there is an atmosphere of fear among doctors.

He said that the health minister of the state wants to see doctors being beaten up. This sends a wrong message to society and such an incident hurts the doctors. A memorandum was sent to the Chief Minister regarding the incident, but not even a single call is a matter of concern.
