JMM attacks central government, accuses it of cheating the tribals

Ranchi: The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has hit out at the central government and has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP of cheating the tribals. Addressing a press conference, JMM leader Supriyo Bhattacharya said that even though the central government has organized Aadi Mahotsav in the country’s capital Delhi the BJP has never thought of the welfare of the tribals.

He asked why Prime Minister Narendra Modi has suddenly become so active about the tribals and is seen talking about the interest of the tribals and advocating giving market to the products made by the tribals. He asked as to where did they have this kind of thinking before and tribal festivals have never been celebrated in Jharkhand for the last 22 years but the central government is silent on the Sarna Dharma Code.

He asked why the Prime Minister did not say anything on Sarna Dharma in Aadi Mahotsav. This disturbs the followers of Aadi Dharma and worshipers of nature. He said that Chief Minister Hemant Soren wrote a letter to the PM on December 1, 2022, in which questions were raised on the implementation of the Forest Conservation Rule instead of the Forest Rights Act.

The Chief Minister had asked what was the need for this. He said that Prime Minister Modi talks about buying tribal products because business is his favorite subject but he does not say anything on Adani. JMM leader Supriyo Bhattacharya said that Jharkhand was formed during Vajpayee’s tenure. But it is also a fact that BJP ruled Jharkhand for more than 16 years in 22 years. Tribal Day was never celebrated during their reign. 

He asked why it took 22 years to celebrate Tribal Day. When Hemant Soren’s government was formed, Tribal Day was celebrated for the first time on 8 and 9 August. Supriyo Bhattacharya said that only Adani will dominate the coarse grain market. He said that soon ragi and millet will be sold in the market with Adani’s brand. He said that the Prime Minister is hatching a conspiracy to mislead the tribals.
