Maoist carrying Rs 15 lakh reward killed in Jharkhand

Ranchi (IANS):A Maoist Guerrilla carrying Rs 15 lakh reward has been killed in gun battle with security forces in Jharkhand’s Khunti district on Monday, police said. 

Jeedan Gudia, zonal commander of banned Maoist outfit, People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) was killed in gun battle with joint operation of the state police and CRPF. Jeedan was facing more than 100 criminals cases related to Maoist activities. 

He was wanted by the state police for a long period of time. He was in second number in PLFI after it’s chief Dinesh Gope. PLFI chief Dinesh Gope carries Rs 1 crore reward on his head. Police recovered one AK 47 from killed Maoist Guerrilla.

The Khunti police received information about presence of Maoist Guerrillas at Koyansar hill of Khunti district. A joint search operation of the state police and CRPF was launched to arrest the Maoists.  

When joint team reached to hill, Maoist Guerrillas started firing,  which was also retaliated by the security forces . In the gun battle one Maoist Guerrilla was killed and other Maoists managed to escape. During search operation it was found that the killed Maoist was Jeedan Gudia. He was active in Maoist activities for last ten years.  

Jeedan Gudia according to police had taken contract of Rs 5 crore to kill Former Deputy Chief Minister and AJSU president Sudesh Mahto. He had made two unsuccessful attempt to kill Mahto.
