Niyati Fatnani Says ‘Baby Doll’ Pushed Her to Adapt to the Fast-Evolving World of Micro-Dramas

Mumbai: Actress Niyati Fatnani has shared her experience of working in the fast-paced micro-drama “Baby Doll,” saying the emerging format presents both challenges and exciting opportunities for actors.

In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Niyati spoke about adapting to the rapid storytelling style of micro-dramas, which differs significantly from conventional television shows.

According to the actress, staying relevant in the ever-changing entertainment industry requires artists to embrace new formats. She believes vertical content and short-form storytelling are becoming increasingly important and could shape the future of entertainment.

“The pace is definitely much faster, but it also allows actors to explore a wider range of characters. It’s exciting because we get the chance to experiment with different roles and connect with audiences in fresh ways,” she said.

Talking about her role in Baby Doll, Niyati revealed that she plays a struggling aspiring actress trying to establish herself in Mumbai’s highly competitive entertainment industry.

She explained that the character faces financial pressures while chasing her dreams and is offered a shortcut to success by her agent. What makes the story unique, she said, is the way it handles a sensitive subject through humor.

“The strength of the show lies in its treatment of a vulnerable issue in an entertaining and light-hearted manner. It combines comedy with a meaningful narrative,” she noted.

Niyati also praised Bullet Microdrama for bringing innovative content to viewers. She said the platform is experimenting with fresh storytelling formats that differ from traditional television and web series.

Describing Baby Doll as a fun and engaging watch, the actress said the series follows a young woman’s journey while maintaining a humorous tone throughout.

Produced by Amit Khan, the show also features veteran actor Ashwin Kaushal in a key role. The series will stream on Bullet, a mobile-first vertical video platform dedicated to short-form micro-dramas.
