Mumbai: Actress Sanya Malhotra has showered praise on actor-turned-producer Patralekhaa, calling her an “incredible producer” whose strength lies in being a talented performer herself.
In a recent interaction, Sanya explained that Patralekhaa’s acting background gave her a deeper understanding of the creative process. According to her, this insight translated into meaningful contributions during the making of their latest project, Toaster.
She shared that while shaping her character Shilpa, there were moments of uncertainty—especially around the character’s look and styling. During those phases, Patralekhaa stepped in with thoughtful suggestions, even helping finalize key elements like the saree, its colour, and overall appearance. Sanya noted that such inputs made a significant difference while building the character.
Reflecting on her decision to take up Toaster, Sanya said she was looking for something light-hearted and fun as an actor. The film’s engaging script and the opportunity to collaborate with Rajkummar Rao made it an easy choice. She recalled that although they had worked in films like Ludo and HIT, this project offered a more enjoyable and collaborative experience.
Sanya added that she trusted the team’s creative instincts, especially knowing Rajkummar’s involvement, which assured her of a strong cast and quality storytelling. She also expressed her interest in being part of a comedy, a genre she enjoys both as an actor and as an audience.
Toaster, which premiered on OTT on April 15, has been receiving positive reviews. The film features Rajkummar Rao, Sanya Malhotra, and Archana Puran Singh, and is directed by Viveck Daschaudhary.
