Medha Shankar unfazed by comparisons with Yami Gautam ahead of Ginny Weds Sunny 2

Mumbai — Actress Medha Shankar is stepping into the spotlight as the lead in Ginny Weds Sunny 2, and with that comes inevitable comparisons to Yami Gautam, who starred in the original film. However, Medha appears completely unbothered by the chatter.

Addressing the comparisons, she made it clear that she holds Yami in high regard and sees no reason to treat the situation as a competition. She also expressed admiration for filmmaker Aditya Dhar, adding that both are aware of the respect she has for their work.

According to Medha, Yami has always been a strong performer, and recognition often comes with time. For her, comparisons are irrelevant—she prefers to focus on learning from talented people around her rather than measuring herself against them.

The original Ginny Weds Sunny, released in 2020, featured Yami Gautam alongside Vikrant Massey and found popularity as a light-hearted romantic comedy on OTT platforms.

The sequel introduces a fresh pairing, with Medha Shankar starring opposite Avinash Tiwary. The film is set to hit screens on April 24.

Medha, who received widespread appreciation for her performance in 12th Fail alongside Vikrant Massey, has already established herself as a promising talent. With Ginny Weds Sunny 2, she now looks to build on that momentum—on her own terms, without getting caught up in comparisons.
