Priyanka Chopra Cherishes Nick Jonas’ Handwritten Notes as Timeless Tokens of Love

Mumbai: Global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas has opened up about a deeply personal promise her American popstar husband Nick Jonas made long before they tied the knot—and how he continues to live up to it years into their marriage.

Speaking on the Jay Shetty Podcast, Priyanka shared that when Nick approached her mother to ask for her hand in marriage, he made a heartfelt assurance that still resonates with her today.

“When he asked my mom for my hand in marriage, he said, ‘I promise I’ll always keep you happy. That’s going to be my quest—your happiness. And I’ll always tell you how loved you are,’” she recalled.

Reflecting on the moment, Priyanka noted that while such promises are often made amid the excitement of weddings, what truly matters is sustaining them in everyday life. According to her, Nick has consistently done just that, never wavering in expressing his love.

She also revealed that she keeps a special “memory drawer” filled with handwritten notes and cards—something she deeply cherishes. “I love handwritten notes. I keep all the cards people write to me,” she said.

Recently, while sorting through the drawer, Priyanka stumbled upon several letters Nick had written to her over the years. Reading them again reminded her how, from the very beginning, he has always emphasised a simple yet powerful message—telling loved ones how much they mean. “It’s the simplest thing, but it makes such a big difference,” she shared.

Priyanka and Nick first met at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, and later made their first public appearance together at the Met Gala. In July 2018, Nick proposed to Priyanka on her birthday in London, and she said yes instantly. The couple married in December 2018 at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in both Hindu and Christian ceremonies.

In January 2022, they welcomed their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas via surrogacy. The couple later shared that Malti was born prematurely and spent more than 100 days in the NICU before finally coming home.
