Varun Dhawan’s Leading Lady in ‘Border 2’ Unveiled

Mumbai: Actress Medha Rana, known for her roles in London Files and Dancing On The Grave, has been cast as the love interest of Bollywood star Varun Dhawan in the upcoming war drama Border 2.

Producer Bhushan Kumar explained the casting decision, saying, “We needed someone who could authentically represent the dialect, spirit, and cultural roots of the region. Medha impressed us with her raw talent, her natural grasp of the regional language, and her emotional depth. We truly believe she will add realism and richness to the role.”

This project marks a significant milestone for Medha Rana, who comes from an Army background herself.

Producer Nidhi Dutta described Border 2 as more than just a film—“It’s an emotion.” On choosing Medha, she added, “Every aspect of this film—from the director to the cast—has been carefully selected to stay true to our vision of telling a story that’s honest, impactful, and relevant. Medha Rana opposite Varun Dhawan brings a refreshing sincerity that perfectly complements the film’s tone.”

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is set to release on January 23, 2026. The film is a sequel to the 1997 war epic Border, which depicted the heroic Battle of Longewala during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

The original Border, directed by J.P. Dutta, featured a stellar cast including Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, and others, and remains one of Indian cinema’s most iconic war films.

Border 2 is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. It is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films.
