Neetu Chandra Appointed Icon Face of Bihar Election Commission

Mumbai – Renowned actress Neetu Chandra, known for her roles in Garam Masala, Traffic Signal, and No Means No, has been appointed as the Icon Face of the Election Commission of Bihar.

According to an official statement, this recognition celebrates a citizen who has significantly elevated Bihar’s identity on global, national, and cultural platforms.

Neetu Chandra’s influence goes far beyond cinema—she has contributed immensely to Bihar through her work in sports, cultural preservation, and social causes. Her diverse achievements make her a powerful and inspirational figure for the state’s ongoing election awareness campaign.

In addition to her film career, Neetu has represented India nine times in National Taekwondo Championships, becoming the first martial artist from Bihar to achieve such a distinction.

As a producer, she created history by winning the National Film Award for her Maithili-language movie Mithila Makhaan. Through her production house, Champaran Talkies, she has spent over 15 years uplifting Bihar by promoting local talent, empowering women farmers, preserving regional art forms, and generating employment.

Neetu began her Bollywood journey in 2005 with Garam Masala, playing the role of Sweety, an air-hostess. She then ventured into Telugu cinema with Godavari in 2006, followed by her critically acclaimed performance in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Traffic Signal in 2007.

In 2008, she featured in films by prominent directors like Dibakar Banerjee, Rahul Dholakia, Ashwini Dheer, and Vikram. The year 2010 saw her in four Hindi films—Rann, Apartment, No Problem, and Sadiyaan—as well as a Tamil film, Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai.

In 2011, she produced the Bhojpuri film Deswa, directed by her brother. Her international ventures included the Greek film Block 12 (initially titled Home Sweet Home), where she played an Indian goddess and even dubbed in Greek.

In 2021, Neetu made her Hollywood debut in the martial arts film Never Back Down: Revolt, a female-led action movie that’s part of the Never Back Down franchise.

With her multifaceted contributions, Neetu Chandra stands as a proud and fitting representative of Bihar’s rich culture and talent.
