Mumbai: The trailer of the upcoming film Murderbaad was launched on Monday, teasing an intense whodunit set against the backdrop of the scenic yet mysterious city of Jaipur. The story begins with the unexplained disappearance of a guest at a royal Rajasthani palace, which soon unravels into a complex web of secrets and hidden truths buried deep within human psychology.
The film boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Nakul Roshan Sahdev, Kanikka Kapur, Sharib Hashmi, Manish Chaudhari, Amole Gupte, Aanjjan Srivastav, and Vibha Chhibber, among others.
Speaking about the project, Sharib Hashmi shared, “Despite it being his first Hindi feature film, Arnab spared no effort in assembling a team that blends fresh talent with seasoned professionals. I thoroughly enjoyed every single day on set. The film is unique, both in its narrative and the way it was made—with a 24-year-old director-producer at the helm. I wish our film the best of luck and hope Arnab achieves all the success he truly deserves.”
The cinematography is handled by renowned filmmaker Binod Pradhan, celebrated for his work in films like Devdas, Rang De Basanti, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Kalank.
Director Arnab Chatterjee reflected on the film's journey, saying, “The idea for Murderbaad took shape five years ago when I wrote a two-page concept while still in college. It draws inspiration from the romance and thrillers I grew up watching, but I wanted to infuse that with a distinctly rooted Indian setting. At its heart, this film explores the hidden stories people carry to protect their identity. I feel fortunate to have had such an exceptional cast and crew bring this vision to life.”
Veteran actor Amole Gupte praised the young filmmaker, stating, “At just 25, Arnab has successfully brought together industry veterans and shouldered the entire production. His approach is truly unique, and his passion and conviction were impossible to resist. Collaboration teaches you life lessons, and I’m amazed at how he has accomplished all of this.”
Produced under Arnab Chatterjee’s own banner, ACjee Entertainment, Murderbaad is scheduled for release on July 18, 2025.
