Raksha Bandhan Relief: Rs.98.92 Crore Transferred to Accounts of 3.95 Lakh Women in Ranchi

Nearly four lakh women in Ranchi district received a financial boost ahead of Raksha Bandhan, with the August instalment under the Chief Minister Maiya Samman Yojana transferred directly to their bank accounts.

A total of 3,95,692 women benefited from the latest payment. Each eligible beneficiary received ?2,500 through Aadhaar-based Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), taking the total amount transferred across the district to ?98 crore 92 lakh 30 thousand.

The payment covers beneficiaries from both rural blocks and urban areas of Ranchi. Among the major areas covered, 31,620 women in Kanke, 26,042 in the Town Urban area, 23,008 in Mandar, 21,335 in Silli, 20,620 in Bero and 20,427 in Ratu received the instalment.

The direct transfer of the money into beneficiaries' bank accounts is aimed at ensuring a transparent and hassle-free payment process, while reducing the need for beneficiaries to visit government offices or depend on intermediaries.

Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said the scheme is intended to strengthen the financial position of women and support their journey towards greater economic independence. He added that the district administration is continuously monitoring the payment process to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the assistance on time and in a transparent manner.

The administration is also reviewing the payment process regularly to identify eligible women who may have been left out and ensure that genuine beneficiaries do not miss out on the scheme's benefits.

With the latest instalment reaching nearly four lakh women's accounts just ahead of Raksha Bandhan, the assistance is expected to provide timely financial support to families during the festive period. For many beneficiaries, the ?2,500 payment could help meet household expenses and other immediate needs, while also providing a measure of financial independence.
