CM Hemant Soren Reviews CAMPA Work, Directs Officials to Strengthen Forest and Environmental Protection

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday reviewed forest conservation and environmental protection initiatives during a meeting of the Governing Body of the State Authority under the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) at Project Bhavan.

The meeting focused on issues related to forest conservation, environmental protection and climate change. The Chief Minister took an update on ongoing programmes and reviewed the progress of activities being carried out under CAMPA.

Soren directed officials to give priority to forest and environment-related programmes and ensure that projects are implemented effectively on the ground. He also stressed the need for regular monitoring so that approved schemes achieve their intended objectives.

Officials were asked to accelerate ongoing work while maintaining proper implementation standards. The meeting also discussed various aspects of CAMPA-funded activities and issues requiring attention for their effective execution.

CAMPA funds are generally used for activities such as compensatory afforestation, forest restoration, wildlife-related measures and strengthening forest infrastructure. Effective utilisation of these funds is particularly important for maintaining forest cover and supporting ecological restoration in the state.

The Chief Minister's review comes as Jharkhand continues to balance development activities with the protection and restoration of its forest resources. Officials were directed to maintain greater focus on implementation, monitoring and timely completion of environment-related projects.
