High Court Stays Cancellation of JSSC CGL Exam, Relief for 1,932 Selected Candidates

The Jharkhand High Court has stayed the state government’s decision to cancel the JSSC CGL examination, providing major relief to 1,932 candidates selected through the examination. The government’s decision had put their appointments and jobs at risk.

The state government had decided to cancel the JSSC CGL and several other competitive examinations following an investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitment exams. The selected CGL candidates subsequently approached the High Court, challenging the government’s decision.

In their petition, the candidates argued that if irregularities were found at any stage of the examination, action should be taken against those responsible. However, cancelling the entire examination and the appointments made on its basis would be unjust, they contended. The petitioners urged the court to protect their appointments and jobs.

The candidates further argued that all examinees should not be treated alike if the investigation identifies irregularities at a particular stage or involving specific individuals. They said that cancelling the entire examination would unfairly affect the careers of a large number of successful candidates who had qualified on the basis of their performance.

Following the High Court’s order, the 1,932 selected candidates have received immediate relief. The uncertainty surrounding their appointments and continuation in service has been temporarily eased.

However, the final outcome will depend on the further judicial proceedings and the court’s detailed order. The state government and other concerned authorities are expected to present their responses before the court.

The High Court’s intervention is being seen as a major relief for the selected JSSC CGL candidates, whose appointments had come under threat following the government’s cancellation order.
