Ranchi: In a major push to regional development projects across Jharkhand, the Rural Development Department has released funds under the MLA Local Area Development Scheme for the current financial year. A total of Rs 405 crore has been allocated for the state's 81 legislators to accelerate development works in their respective constituencies.
According to departmental officials, Rs 215 crore has been earmarked under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) for the development of tribal-dominated areas. In addition, Rs 190 crore has been released under the Other State Plan (OSP) to support development projects in non-tribal regions.

As per existing provisions, every MLA is entitled to recommend development works worth Rs 5 crore annually in his or her constituency. With the release of funds, legislators will now be able to propose new projects and expedite pending development works.
The allocation can be utilised for a range of public welfare and infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage systems, drinking water facilities, community buildings, street lighting and other locally important development initiatives.
The state government believes that the timely release of funds will help speed up development activities in both rural and urban areas while ensuring better implementation of projects based on local needs and priorities.
