
Tehran— India has reiterated its support for efforts aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in West Asia and restoring regional stability, according to a statement issued by Iran following a ?????? between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi.
The two leaders spoke over the phone on Sunday, discussing the rapidly evolving situation in the region. During the conversation, India ?????????? the importance of maintaining peace and security, backing both regional and international initiatives to de-escalate tensions.
In its official statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry highlighted concerns over what it described as attacks by the United States and Israel on Iranian infrastructure, including industrial facilities and safeguarded nuclear sites. Araghchi stressed that the international community, including the United Nations, must take responsibility to uphold international law and prevent the normalisation of conflict.
He also warned of broader consequences for regional and global stability if military actions continue, while asserting Iran’s determination to defend its national interests.
On India’s part, Jaishankar emphasised the urgent need to restore stability in West Asia and expressed support for diplomatic efforts to stop the war. Earlier, he confirmed the conversation in a brief post, noting that the current regional situation was discussed, without sharing further details.
The exchange comes amid rising tensions in West Asia, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz — a key global energy corridor. Increasing military activity and strong rhetoric from multiple sides have raised fears of a wider conflict, making diplomatic engagement all the more crucial.
