Tennis: Ankita Raina reaches semis, assured of a medal

Ankita produced a composed performance in her quarter-final, defeating Hong Kong's Eudice Wong Chong 6-4, 6-1 to book her place in the last four.

The Indian initially faced a competitive challenge from Wong Chong, but she gained control as the match progressed. After taking the opening set 6-4, Ankita stepped up her game in the second set and dropped just one game to complete a convincing victory.

Her semi-final appearance means India is guaranteed a podium finish in the women's singles event, with Ankita now one victory away from earning a place in the gold-medal match.

The result also adds to India's strong showing in tennis at the Asian Games, where the country's players were looking to convert their performances into medals across the singles and doubles events.
