Aishwarya Pissay Becomes First Asian and Indian Woman to Win at W2RC Portugal

Portugal: Bengaluru’s Aishwarya Pissay has etched her name in motorsport history by becoming the first woman from Asia and India to win her category at the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal 2025, the fourth round of the prestigious FIM World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC).

Competing in the Rally2 – Women’s class, the 29-year-old not only clinched victory in her division but also secured an impressive 27th place overall against an elite international field—an achievement hailed as a landmark for Indian motorsport.

Racing as a privateer in one of the toughest rally-raid championships in the world, Aishwarya’s triumph reflects her perseverance, grit, and determination. Backed by TVS Racing and several committed partners, she has become a trailblazer and a symbol of inspiration for women in motorsport across Asia.

“This win means the world to me. Becoming the first woman from Asia and India to win at this level is not just a personal milestone, it’s a message to every young girl who dreams beyond limits. I’m grateful to TVS Racing and all my partners who made this moment possible,” Aishwarya said after her victory.

The rally itself was a true test of endurance—spanning 2,000 km in total, including 1,225 km of competitive stages over six days and a prologue, all across 100% gravel routes in Portugal and Spain.

Jointly organized by the FIM and FIA, the rally featured several of the sport’s top international competitors, yet Aishwarya’s performance stood out, further solidifying her reputation on the global stage.

With this victory, she has boosted her long-term campaign toward the Dakar Rally 2027, where she aims to become the first Indian woman to compete and finish the iconic event on two wheels. The Portugal win not only adds to her race credentials but also strengthens her confidence and momentum on the road to Dakar.
