New Delhi – India will kick off their 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on September 30 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Monday.
The much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan is set for October 5 and will take place at a neutral venue — the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. As part of the hybrid hosting model agreed upon by the BCCI and PCB, all of Pakistan’s matches will be played in Colombo.
Defending champions Australia will begin their title defense against New Zealand on October 1 at Indore’s Holkar Cricket Stadium. On the following day, Pakistan will face Bangladesh in Colombo. Another major fixture sees Australia take on England in Indore on October 22 — a high-voltage rematch of the 2022 World Cup final.
“With the best eight teams in women’s cricket coming to India and matches set across fantastic venues with potentially record-breaking crowds, the announcement of the schedule adds to the excitement and anticipation,” said ICC Chairman Jay Shah.
The round-robin stage will run until October 26, concluding with two matches on the final day: England vs. New Zealand in Guwahati at 11 AM and India vs. Bangladesh in Bengaluru at 3 PM IST.
The top four teams from the round-robin stage will qualify for the semi-finals. The first-placed team will play the fourth, and the second-placed team will face the third. Semi-finals are slated for October 29 and 30, with the final scheduled for November 2.
Depending on Pakistan’s qualification status, the first semi-final will be held in either Guwahati or Colombo, while the second semi-final is locked in for Bengaluru. The final will take place in either Colombo or Bengaluru.
This marks the first time since 2013 that India is hosting the Women’s ODI World Cup. The tournament will feature eight teams: India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
