This landmark tournament introduces a dedicated platform for veteran hockey players, celebrating the sport's enduring appeal and the unwavering passion of its seasoned athletes. The event will feature competitions in both men’s and women’s categories, with participating team names to be revealed soon.
According to tournament regulations, players must be aged 40 or older to compete in the men's category, and 35 or older for the women's category. All participants are required to register through their respective State Member Units.
The competition will adopt a league-cum-knockout format, with pools structured based on the total number of registered teams.
Former Indian women’s hockey captain Asunta Lakra expressed her enthusiasm for the new initiative, stating, “Being part of the first-ever Hockey India Masters Cup is an incredibly emotional and exciting experience for me. Hockey has played a defining role in my life, and the chance to return to the field alongside fellow veterans is truly special.”

I commend Hockey India for creating this platform, giving former players an opportunity to relive the joy of the sport and inspire the next generation. I’m proud to lace up my boots again—not just for the love of hockey, but for everything it has given us over the years.”
