Indian athletes Anu Raghavan and Jauna Murmu booked their places in the women's 400-metre hurdles final at the 2018 Asian Games on Sunday, keeping India's hopes of a medal alive in the event.
Anu produced the stronger performance of the two, clocking 56.77 seconds to finish third in Heat 2. Her timing placed her third overall among the finalists.
Jauna, competing in Heat 1, finished fourth with a time of 59.20 seconds. She advanced to the final as the eighth and last qualifier.
The final is scheduled to take place on Monday, when both Indians will look to improve on their qualifying performances and challenge for a place on the podium.
Anu's qualification is particularly encouraging after she finished among the leading runners in the heats, while Jauna will need a significant improvement in her timing to compete with the fastest athletes in the final.
