Google's new travel guide website 'Touring Bird' is here

Google's experimental startup incubator Area 120 has launched Touring Bird, a travel guide platform designed to help tourists discover and plan activities, tours and attractions in popular destinations around the world.

The new service brings together information on sightseeing spots, guided tours and local experiences, with users also able to compare options based on factors such as price and personal preferences.

Touring Bird initially covers 20 cities, including New Delhi, Prague, Chicago, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin and Las Vegas. Google plans to expand the list of destinations in the coming months.

After selecting a city, travellers can browse popular attractions, recommended tours and activities, along with their prices. The platform also highlights free guided tours and recommendations from local residents and travel bloggers, giving users alternatives beyond conventional tourist attractions.

One of the platform's key features is a “build-your-own package” option. Travellers can filter and compare different experiences according to their budget and interests and create a customised itinerary. The service also includes options to book and cancel activities.

Touring Bird said its team comprises people with experience in developing travel products at Google and that the platform was created with the aim of addressing common problems faced by travellers while planning trips.

The service also allows users to bookmark preferred activities and recommendations, including food, destinations, accommodation and entertainment, and share their selections with friends or fellow travellers.

The launch reflects the growing shift toward digital travel planning, where tourists increasingly want to compare experiences, prices and local recommendations before making bookings. By bringing these options together in one place, Touring Bird aims to make destination planning more personalised and convenient.

Touring Bird is currently available globally in English for both desktop and mobile users.
